Projects

A project is the unit most teams interact with day to day.

Projects own:

  • builds
  • baselines
  • visual testing settings
  • API tokens
  • privacy and public-sharing rules

What you configure at the project level

Project settings typically cover:

  • baseline mode
  • comparison sensitivity
  • noise filtering
  • diff highlight color
  • baseline signature properties
  • API tokens
  • public properties and visibility
  • GitHub integration and PR comment images

Permissions

Admins and owners handle most project configuration. Members usually work inside the project without owning its settings.

Privacy

Projects can be private or public, but that behavior is constrained by organization-level privacy rules.

API tokens

Projects issue their own automation tokens. That is why a project token is the normal credential for CI and SDK uploads.

Lifecycle

Projects can usually be:

  • created
  • updated
  • archived
  • deleted

Archive when you want to hide a project without losing its history. Delete only when you are sure you want the data gone.
